Zoom! Race-car ride-along at the Walt Disney World Speedway
The Walt Disney World Speedway on Saturday was the site of my first-ever experience in a race car. I zipped around that track three times at speeds that can zoom up to 140 mph. My stomach also, apparently, made the trip — just not with my brain.
Kidding!
And, Disney annual passholders, don’t...

I hope Disney’s summer fireworks have plenty of mayhem
Buzz all over the Internet is that Disney’s summer fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom — part of the Disney World Nightastic! promotion — will be the “Magic, Music and Mayhem” fireworks show from the old Pirate & Princess Parties.
Officially, Disney tells us the Nightastic!...

I’m charged over the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade
I am thrilled that Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade is returning to the Magic Kingdom for Nightastic, a special summer season this June.
Although I have fond memories of SpectroMagic, the current nighttime parade, there’s something about it that’s just a little … off.
Why, for example,...

Tokyo DisneySea to get amped-up “Fantasmic!”
I’m not sure how I feel about another version of “Fantasmic!” headed to the Tokyo DisneySea park.
I’m a fan of both Disneyland’s “Fantasmic!” and the version at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But does the theme-park universe need another one?
Plus, I have...

Revamped Space Mountain doesn’t live up to hype
OK, I waited through all the holiday hoopla so I wouldn’t sound like the Grinch. And I even went back and rode the “improved” Space Mountain again — just to be sure I was giving it a fair shake.
And, well, I don’t get it. I know people who are rapturous about it: They...

Block Party not such a bash in bad weather
I happened to catch the Block Party Bash, the daytime parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the other day after some showers had left the pavement wet — and the threat of rain was still hanging in the air.
Because of the bad weather, it was less a bash and more a quick hello as the various...

Who’s the fairest of them all? (according to Craig Ferguson)
Did anyone catch The Late, Late Show last night on CBS? Host Craig Ferguson was reading viewer e-mails, and the question was posed to him: “Who is your favorite Disney princess?”
Loved his answer, which he delivered instantly in his deadpan style: “Zac Efron.”
Craig cracked himself...

Prince Caspian rides into the sunset at Hollywood Studios
Saturday marked the end of the Hollywood Studios meet-and-greet with Prince Caspian from the Chronicles of Narnia movie series. The prince was stationed in a small room adjacent to the Journey Into Narnia: Prince Caspian exhibit.
I had never seen his indoor meet-and-greet location (Caspian previously...
