I hope Disney’s summer fireworks have plenty of mayhem

Buzz all over the Internet is that Disney’s summer fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom — part of the Disney World Nightastic! promotion — will be the “Magic, Music and Mayhem” fireworks show from the old Pirate & Princess Parties.

Officially, Disney tells us the Nightastic! fireworks show will have “elements” of “Magic, Music and Mayhem” — but they haven’t decided which ones yet. Disney’s billing the new fireworks as a work in progress, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Personally, I’m thinking the more elements from “Magic, Music and Mayhem” used in this new show, the better. “MMM” is full of dramatic effects, stirring music and whimsical touches.

If you never saw them at a Pirate & Princess Party, I’ll give you three favorite parts.

1. Pirates attack the castle: It’s dramatic, the castle lighting is amazing. If your imagination is strong enough, you will fear for Cinderella’s home.

2. King Triton is summoned to help. We knew that Ariel’s daddy wasn’t too keen on humans, but he seems to have a special hatred of marauding pirates. Great use of a Disney character in a new way.

3. The bickering fairies of Sleeping Beauty. You may recall from the movie that they never could agree on which color Princess Aurora’s dress should be. You can imagine how that plays out in the sky.

Can’t wait to see what Disney ultimately comes up with!

This firework show is by far my favorite! A revamp will be even better

Has anyone (besides me) noticed that all the construction around the Magic Kingdom, with all these plywood walls going up, has pretty throughly blocked the view of the fireworks? One of my favorite spots is near where Tinkerbell flies right over your head on her way down; it’s pretty much a wall of wood now. It’s a great spot because from that angle, with the fireworks going up and Tink flying over, it looks like they’re trying to shoot her down. The kids love it.
