Singer Jon Bon Jovi strikes a pose with Goofy (is that his bad-dog look?) in the New York street backlot area of Disney's Hollywood Studios on Monday. Bon Jovi is, of course, lead singer of the band Bon Jovi, which just released a new album titled "The Circle." (Photo by Gene Duncan, Walt Disney World)

It’s always fun to encounter a celeb at Disney World.Having been annual passholders for 16 years we have had our share of encounters in the least expected places. Our best encounters came when we least expected it. When it is a staged visit the Disney security staff go that extra mile to keep you away.It is when the celeb is with family that you can generally walk up to them and say hello.Patrick Warburton was real friendly as was Bill Gates and his then fiance now wife.Warburton was there for the opening of Soaring while Gates shared a table with us at a Food and Wine festival seminar.Elton John and Britany Spears were both standoffish. She was a new pop star and surrrounded by a gang of teenagers. Elton John was there for some interview at EPCOT and he wouldn’t tolerate anyone.Phil Collins acted like your long lost buddy as sat at neighboring tables at the brown Derby..Once we had heard Michael Jackson was visitng and staying at the Swan.We went out for a walk and there he was at the Disney Boardwalk’s Wyland gallery.I was admiring a wall hanging and he walked up behind me and commented he thought the blue item would be worth more in the long run. Thinking he was a salesman I asked him why he felt that way? I glanced to my side and was dumbfounded that it was him. Although the discussion lasted a minute I avoided talking to him like a pop star.We focused on what made certain art items appreciate faster then others. That is the real key to approaching people you recognise. The assumption that celebrities are hidden away is simply false. Treat them like Disney fans and they like it.Talk to them like stars and they always retreat. You just need to open your eyes and you would be startled how many celebs visit , or visited, Disney World on a regular basis.
